EmpowHER is a dynamic leadership and mentorship program designed to equip young women and LGBTQ2+ individuals (ages 12–30) with the skills, networks, and opportunities to excel in their chosen fields. This hybrid program (both virtual and in-person) provides hands-on experiences with civic action.
EmpowHER is open to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and protected refugees who are passionate about civic engagement and making a meaningful impact in their communities. Participants will engage in real-world projects, leadership training, and mentorship opportunities that foster growth and empowerment.
Are you 13-18 years old? Do you care about the environment? Join ER Teens: a remote & flexible volunteer program! Earth Rangers is looking for teens across Canada to get involved in environmental action, wherever you live. Our ER Teens program lets you volunteer for the environment by doing an eco-action project of your choice. We’ll help you complete an initiative that makes a difference and helps you develop skills in leadership, communication, and time management. You’ll earn volunteer hours, meet new people, and get a certificate and recognition! Plus it’s totally flexible around your schedule! How it works: 1. Sign up for ER Teens on our website 2. Connect with a Coordinator via Zoom, email, or text 3. Plan a project idea together, or use one of our guides 4. Complete your project with support whenever needed 5. ABOUT US
Seeds of Diversity is a nationally-incorporated charity that engages Canadians to secure the future of food production and adapt Canadian food systems to new challenges of the next century. Through education and hands-on skills training, gardeners young and old preserve the biodiversity and sustainability of our agricultural food systems.
Youth in Food Systems is a program of Seeds of Diversity that works to support youth in food systems learning, skills development, and agri-food career exploration through several in-person and remote projects across Ontario.
THE ROLE
Our social media is one of our primary communication platforms, and we’re looking for youth interested in helping us to grow it with fun, relevant, and informational content! You will be able to co-lead our Instagram page (@youthinfoodsystems) by conducting research, creating posts, and (optional) interacting with our audience.
Time commitment: 3 month minimum, 2+ post designs / month on a self-selected schedule
Designing social media content for our platform that are engaging with current trends and opportunities to increase brand exposure for our company.
- Collaborate in teams and or with other staff members and volunteers.
- Propose ideas to improve DFCC's social media platforms.
- Provide support for designing flyers, and posters while being informed of trending topics.
- Create and plan the contents of the volunteer and or youth monthly newsletter. It can incorporate feature articles, updates and highlights of DFCC's activities and achievements.
- Create weekly quotes either inspirational or informative to engage followers.
- Writing blog posts about our initiatives and events
- Identify community needs and recommend new topics
