The Board of Directors oversee Community Care Durham’s affairs within the framework of applicable laws and standards as they relate to Mission, Vision and Values, Leadership and Succession Planning, Risk and Quality Assurance and Community Connections.
The Board of Directors has the responsibility and authority to approve strategic planning and directives; budgets and purchases; CEO goals, performance management and compensation as well as the evaluation of their own performance, roles and responsibilities.
The board seeks skills and qualifications in the following areas:
- Financial Management (Designation Required)
- Legal Consultation
- Specialty Skills/Knowledge
Candidates should have knowledge and understanding of the non-profit sector and be aware of the community supports services in Durham Region.

We are a not for profit registered charity organization. Directors participate in monthly meetings including administrative duties, fundraising initiatives, public events and approval of successful crime stoppers tips.
Poppy Campaign, decoration committee, Colour Party (walking, holding flags and attending multiple events), meat rolls, fundraiser support, and working in the kitchen
We are seeking someone with Accounting or Bookkeeping experience, to assist us in managing the finances for our Foundation. This is a volunteer position. We welcome career professionals, graduates, near graduates, and internships. This is a great way to allow us to help the community, while gaining or sharing expertise in the field.
HIGHLIGHTS include * Record expenses, payments and other expenditures * Create and consolidate financial statements at the year-end (March 31st) * Manage our budget* Perform internal audit as needed for the finances of the foundation * Keep track of charitable donations *
Providing outstanding customer service and organizing memorable events that will meet the quality expectations of the community.
- Collaborate in teams and or with other staff members and volunteers.
- Organizing details such as decorating, setting up and cleaning up after the event, decorating, seating participants during an event, providing directions and setting tables.
- Brainstorm ideas to support the event planning process.
- Ability to carry out tasks with limited supervision.
- Provide raffle tickets to the participants who attend the events.
Responsibilities:

Document Editing and Communication:
- Edit and proofread documents related to the operations and initiatives of the Carion Fenn Foundation.
- Facilitate communication both internally and externally, ensuring clarity and consistency of messaging.

Online Advertising Management:
- Oversee the implementation of online advertising strategies, including SEO, SEM, and ad placement through Google Ads.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of online ads to optimize campaigns and maximize ROI.

Social Media Management:
- Manage social media accounts across various platforms for the Carion Fenn Foundation.
- Track and analyze social media metrics to assess engagement and inform content strategies.
As a board member, you will be required to:
- Be an advocate for the organization.
- Attend quarterly board meetings – please note that currently most of the meetings are held online and when in person, they are held in the Oshawa area.
- Actively serve on at least one Board committee and support committee initiatives.
- Attend and support fundraising and project initiatives when possible.
We are particularly interested in board members with the following:
- Experience in finance and accounting; a licensed Chartered Public Accountant is an asset.
- Expertise and experience in Human Resources.
- Legal expertise, particularly in non-profit law.
- Fundraising experience and expertise.
- Lived experience that aligns with our mission, i.e., cultural education, community empowerment, and social justice.
- Any experience or expertise in DEIA is considered an asset.
Committee members take ownership of fundraising and contribute significantly to TCEP corporate sponsorship, personal giving, fundraising events and other campaigns. They leverage personal or professional networks, practice event planning skills, and help get people excited about healthy wholesome food! The committee convenes once every 4 to 6 weeks, and members are expected to attend at least 75% of those meetings.
