WhitbyThe RMG Learning and Engagement Department is currently looking for volunteers to assist with the delivery of a variety of educational programming including children's art classes and family events! Assisting the Learning and Engagement Department is an excellent way to learn about a range of artistic techniques and practices, as well as gain valuable practical experience working with children of all ages. Please inquire if you have any questions about this role.
Please note: You must be 16 years old and if you are 18 years old or older, you must submit a recent vulnerable screening records check.
- Assisting in preparation of new garden beds
- Planting seeds & seedlings
- Assisting or facilitating community teaching events & student workshops
- Helping with crafts and interactive activities
- Occasional maintenance such as watering or tidying
- Some moving of soil (Volunteers will be notified in advance, and participation will be optional)
Seeking volunteer male mentors for boys ages 9 - 16. Must be 21+ and preferably identifies as representing the Afro-Canadian Black community. If you are empathetic, kind and caring, we would love to connect you with a youth in need of support and guidance. Position is hybrid (both in person and virtual), and commit to at least 6 months. Do you want to support families impacted by cancer? Can you commit two (2) hours per week to providing psychosocial support to a child in need? Join Nankind and help lessen the impact of cancer on families by offering virtual childcare support.
How You Can Help:
- Provide psychosocial support to help children develop coping skills and build resilience.
- Provide fun, educational, creative, and safe virtual experiences for children.
- Commit to a minimum of six (6) months to ensure stability for families during a parent’s treatment and recovery.
- Offer two (2) hours of childcare support per week to the same family.
