Whitby- Early experience: to best understand clients and program dynamics, new volunteers interested in camp are to attend ongoing recreation events during the spring/summer time before camp.
- Complete training, including an online workshop and 2-day training (all allocated towards volunteer hours)
- Reside in a cabin amongst members (clients), volunteers, and staff
- Providing emotional support, "volunteering to be a friend."
- (Not Mandatory) hygiene support, including but not limited to: dressing, teeth brushing, showering, toileting
- Escorting members to nurses for medications in a timely manner
- Work alongside volunteers under the supervision of camp staff
- Maintain a positive attitude
- Support participation in camp programming such as swimming, sports, crafts, games, campfires, and special events
- Encourage social interaction, confidence, and independence in a fun, respectful way
- Assist with mealtimes, including prompting, light physical assistance, and supervision
- Help maintain camper safety and supervision at all times, following camp policies and training
- Support transitions between activities and help campers stay engaged and regulated
- Communicate effectively with camp staff, nurses, and leadership about camper needs or concerns
- Respond calmly to behavioural or emotional needs, using strategies provided during training

As a Camp Volunteer, you’ll play a key role in creating a safe, active, and positive camp environment. Volunteers can select from the following session options:
· Morning session: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (15 hours/week)
· Afternoon session: 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. (15 hours/week)
· Full-day session: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (35 hours/week)
Volunteers may assist with a variety of tasks, including:
· Supporting staff in coaching and supervising children
· Helping organize and maintain soccer equipment
· Assisting with setup, cleanup, and general camp operations
· Ensuring a safe, clean, and inclusive environment for all campers
· Encouraging teamwork, sportsmanship, and fun!
Qualities we are looking for:

· Responsible, reliable, and eager to learn
· Committed to helping campers have a memorable summer experience
Eligibility: The eligibility criteria are:
· Volunteers must be at least 14 years old by the start of their volunteer week.
· Those aged 16+ may also be eligible for a Counsellor-in-Training (CIT) or Camp Counsellor position.
· Volunteers aged 18 or older must submit a Police Background Check.
· Volunteer spots are limited at each location—early applications are encouraged!

Supporting members throughout a variety of events including:

- Dinner & Movie Nights
Duties during events include
- engaging with members in a friendly socializing role
- contributing to a positive, welcoming and inclusive environment by respecting all individuals including members, staff & volunteers from different walks of life and varied abilities
- promote appropriate life and social skills
- encourage members to participate in events through positive energy and participation
- assisting members to ensure they're included in programs i.e., holding knife while member places hand over top of yours to assist with cutting food items
- supporting staff in set up and clean up of events including: whiping down tables/counters, dishes, decorating, moving furniture, changing garbages etc.
Facilitate Game On,program for young men 12 to 14 * promote Literacy program, self-esteem and sports activities * provide guidance, attention, praise and advice * promote importance of staying in school and healthy relationships with family and peers
Facilitate Go Girls, program for girls 10-14 to learn about food and nutrition * provide guidance, attention, praise, and advice to instill trust and self-confidence * promote the importance of staying in school and healthy relationships with family and peers
