Are you passionate about trees and want to grow the urban forest? Join LEAF for our Volunteer Orientation to discover how you can lend a helping hand!

During this interactive virtual session, participants will learn about the LEAF mission, our programs and the different volunteer roles that LEAF offers.

We have opportunities in Toronto, York Region and Durham Region to suit any volunteer, from hands-on planting to community engagement. Learn how you can help improve the urban forest in 2024 and beyond!

Katimavik’s National Experience is an opportunity for any Canadian citizens, permanent residents or landed refugees aged 17 – 25 who are looking for 5.5 months of creative learning, community engagement, Truth and Reconciliation, and self-discovery * participants will live in a group setting with up to 10 of their peers in two separate communities throughout the course of the program * during the program they engage in 32 hours of valuable volunteer work a week, learn how to manage a house, make lifelong friends, and gain confidence that they themselves can make an impactful difference in our country.  
 
This is a fully funded opportunity where participants’ travel expenses, living accommodations, food costs, and daily needs are covered * participants will need to bring is their dedication, empathy, and commitment to making a better world * Katimavik aims to help young folks become engaged, caring citizens and capable contributors and leaders for a better Canada through the development of 21st century skills, experiential learning, and civic engagement.

Program cohorts start every January and July of each year.

FOOTPRINTS 4 Autism is a nonprofit registered charity serving Durham Region. We offer respite and recreational programs for families with children and youth on the autism spectrum.  We are currently growing from a Steering Committee to a Governance Board, and looking for new members to join our Board.

We need Board members in the following areas: Marketing, Communications, Fund Development, Finance and Secretary. For a 2-year commitment.

Board meetings are held once-a-month in Whitby. We have a virtual option as well. Members can choose roles in Marketing & Communications, Fund Development, Finance, Human Resources and ad-hoc Project sub-committees.

These roles can be rewarding to anyone from lawyers, insurance agents, marketing and advertising to accountants, fundraisers, administration, and community minded people, to name a few.

VOLUNTEER BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Community Living Oshawa/Clarington is an accredited, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the achievement of personal outcomes for people with developmental disabilities.  We are currently accepting applications and nominations for members of the Board of Directors and committees of the Board.

 

PURPOSE:

To guide the organization, in partnership with the Executive Director and Senior Management Team, through the implementation of the organizational strategic plan.

 

ROLE/RESPONSIBILITIES:

-            Attend monthly Board meetings

-            Participate on one other standing committee of the Board

-            Support and attend agency events when possible

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

-            Advocacy

-            Culture and Diversity

-            Non-profit organizations

-            Health

-            Finance

-            Information Technology (IT)

-            Law and/or community policing

-            Real Estate

-            Social Services

 

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

-            Board or committee experience

-            Understanding of Roberts Rules of Order 

-            Strategic planning skills

 

TIME COMMITMENT:    4 – 10 hours per month

 

LOCATION:                         39 Wellington Ave. East, Oshawa - (Event locations may vary and virtual attendance is optional)
