The Board of Directors oversee Community Care Durham’s affairs within the framework of applicable laws and standards as they relate to Mission, Vision and Values, Leadership and Succession Planning, Risk and Quality Assurance and Community Connections.
The Board of Directors has the responsibility and authority to approve strategic planning and directives; budgets and purchases; CEO goals, performance management and compensation as well as the evaluation of their own performance, roles and responsibilities.
The board seeks skills and qualifications in the following areas:
- Financial Management (Designation Required)
- Legal Consultation
- Specialty Skills/Knowledge
Candidates should have knowledge and understanding of the non-profit sector and be aware of the community supports services in Durham Region.

We are a not for profit registered charity organization. Directors participate in monthly meetings including administrative duties, fundraising initiatives, public events and approval of successful crime stoppers tips.
Poppy Campaign, decoration committee, Colour Party (walking, holding flags and attending multiple events), meat rolls, fundraiser support, and working in the kitchen
Provide oversite as a board member for social housing, monthly meetings. Work with the property management company to insure all aspects of the building are addressed.
As a board member, you will be required to:
- Be an advocate for the organization.
- Attend quarterly board meetings – please note that currently most of the meetings are held online and when in person, they are held in the Oshawa area.
- Actively serve on at least one Board committee and support committee initiatives.
- Attend and support fundraising and project initiatives when possible.
We are particularly interested in board members with the following:
- Experience in finance and accounting; a licensed Chartered Public Accountant is an asset.
- Expertise and experience in Human Resources.
- Legal expertise, particularly in non-profit law.
- Fundraising experience and expertise.
- Lived experience that aligns with our mission, i.e., cultural education, community empowerment, and social justice.
- Any experience or expertise in DEIA is considered an asset.
• Assist with establishing, monitoring, coordinating and implementing the organization’s administrative policies for Afiwi Groove School.
• Track and monitor student absences.
• E-mail/telephone correspondence with parents, schools and community organizations and answering basic inquiries (i.e. registrations, performances/bookings)
• Maintain overall contact lists for staff & board member
• Filing & Photocopying
• Issue thank-you letters/ cards to donors, schools and festivals and event planners.
• Manage calendar and schedule meetings (ie. workshops, executive board meetings, department meeting)
• Preparing all required documentation for
• Attend Board and Instructor meetings on an as needed basis
• Mailings
• Scanning and backing up documents
• Other duties as assigned by Management.
• Print attendance sheet for teachers and administer their hours
• Administer dance studio database. Charge accounts of parents who are late with payments
• Update parents and student profiles.
• Generating mailing lists for new student campaigns, mailings, newsletters, event and concert invitations
• Ensure digital and print materials are available for distribution.
• Generate contracts for printing and mailing
• managing correspondences and invoices through Quick Books
• Processing debit/credit card payments at the studio
• Upload receipts and expense into Quick Books or send to the accountant.
We are looking for interested and committed Board Members to work with us to help bring a low-cost, Spay/Neuter Clinic to Durham Region.

FOOTPRINTS 4 Autism is a nonprofit registered charity serving Durham Region. We offer respite and recreational programs for families with children and youth on the autism spectrum. We are currently growing from a Steering Committee to a Governance Board, and looking for new members to join our Board.
We need Board members in the following areas: Marketing, Communications, Fund Development, Finance and Secretary. For a 2-year commitment.
Board meetings are held once-a-month in Whitby. We have a virtual option as well. Members can choose roles in Marketing & Communications, Fund Development, Finance, Human Resources and ad-hoc Project sub-committees.
These roles can be rewarding to anyone from lawyers, insurance agents, marketing and advertising to accountants, fundraisers, administration, and community minded people, to name a few.
