Skills/Experience | Communication & Interpersonal Skills - Strong English language skills, both verbal and written. A minimum CLB Level 8 or higher for non-native speakers of English. Well-developed interpersonal skills for assisting adults with multiple learning styles. ; Confidentiality ; Customer Service ; Dependability & Trustworthiness ; Friendly & Outgoing ; Listening Skills ; Mentoring & Training ; Patience ; Planning & Organizing ; Positive / Cheerful Demeanor ; Self-Motivated / Work Independently ; Web & IT - Familiarity with computers and digital literacy skills is an asset. Comfortable using online platforms, such as Zoom or a willingness to learn. The ability to share documents on screen, and use annotation tools are highly desirable skills ; Writing & Editing ; Tutoring Skills and Experience: ● A willingness to learn about adult education. ● Able to clearly communicate instructions and demonstrate examples within a supportive, adult learning framework. ● Able to follow a ‘best practices’ tutoring model, following task and outcomes-based approach, in accordance with learners’ goals and goal-path (i.e., employment, post-secondary education, independence etc.). ● Previous teaching, tutoring, mentoring or coaching experience is useful, but not required. ● Comfortable tutoring in a shared public workspace (e.g., public library). Administrative and Documentation Skills: ● Strong administrative skills for tracking learners’ progress. |

In your subject line, please write: Volunteer Tutor Application – Completed. 3. LEADR will contact interested applicants to arrange an onsite, telephone or Zoom, prescreening meeting. Accepted applicants will move onto the onboarding and training process. Details regarding next steps (e.g., onboarding and training) will be discussed during the pre-screening meeting. |
