Duties

General Responsibilities of the Board of Directors

The Board is responsible for the governance and the overall performance of the Corporation.  The responsbilities of the Board shall inlcude all things required by the Board pursuant to Non-Profit Corporatons Act, and other applicable laws, including without limitation:

  • Strategic Planning
  • Financial oversight including appointment of an Auditor
  • Governance
  • Appoint and supervise the Executive Director
  • Montoring of organizational risk and mitigation strategies
  • Ensure mechanisms are in place to provide high quality of care to people with intellectual disabilities

We are currently seeking board members who have financial acumen.
Commitment Length Long Term ; Each Board term is 3 years. Board members can serve two-three year terms.
Interaction Level Small Group ; Virtual Volunteering ; Board meets virtually and four times a year in person.
Minimum Hours 2 / Month
Dates and Times Monday: Evening (Between 60-90 minute meeting each month) 
 
Finance Committee Meets once per month just prior to the board meeting. This meeting is typically virtual and is about 30-45 minutes in duration.
Seasons Spring ; Summer - Board meets once during the summer ; Fall - AGM is held in September ; Winter - Board typically does not meet in December
